December 2000The year two thousand has been an eventful one for Discover the path and Discover the Path at Hestia's Hearth. We have met so many new people across the country and talked with them and helped them through a period of time that is difficult. It never ceases to amaze us how much courage people demonstrate in the face of necessity. We remain heartened and uplifted by the quality and strength in the human spirit. We have been studying hard on many fronts this year. The Goddess pages have been abandoned a little, but only so that we can spend more time researching myths and stories of our earth mother. We want to find other ways to celebrate the Goddess energies that touch us most deeply. There are a surfeit of books available at all the popular New Age stores and many reprints are coming off the shelves faster than they can be replaced. As we search for the meaning of the Goddess in our business and personal lives, we realize that above all, it is what we feel and do but not necessarily what we read that makes her alive in all of us. Supporting the healing process with our clients, brings to mind the early women who carried on the traditions of the healing Goddesses. Joining hands around the table in preparation for sharing a meal reminds us of the bounty of the earth mother. Lighting a special candle and watching the flame flicker and lull us into peace seems to bring alive the true spirit of the ancients. Certainly in Discover the path at Hestia's Hearth, we cherish and honour this tradition. Hestia and her flame were always called into the home before anything else was set up. In the height of the Roman Empire's glory, under the supervision of Vesta and the Vestal Virgins, the hearth was the centre of activity, warmth and illumination in all households. No activity could take place without Hestia/Vesta's symbolic presence, the blue flame. Hestia is our Patroness (See November, Goddess of the month page) and we will continue to seek her guidance in all that we do. In 2001, our plans centre on the development of a resource centre that will house our spiritual home as well as the healing crafts offered by the practitioners of Discover the path. We want to focus on bringing Discover the path and Hestia's Hearth closer to the heart and hearth of our clients who wish to share in the energy, creativity and diversity of our goals. We offer opportunities for women to join together as practitioners, healers, spiritual guides and links in our circle. We have so many talented and caring people in the group who are always seeking ways to uplift and lend a helping hand to those who are just starting on their journey. In addition to the idea of monthly meetings at full and/or new moons, we still offer the opportunity for membership in Discover the path at Hestia"s Heart as well as the role of Trusted Servant (Certified Spiritual Healer, Diplomat of Earth Stewardship, Ordained Minister { Hiera De Mater in Discover the Path}) within the International Assembly of Spiritual Healers and Earth Stewards, located in Seattle Washington. (see the page for more information) A period of quiet reflection is critical in generating energy for future directions. As we go into the quiet time of this winter season getting ready for our spring awakening we welcome any suggestions or ideas you may have to incorporate your thoughts and ideas into our group. We welcome your stories of healing, finding a Goddess that has helped you to rebuild your life or just words that will be helpful to others. Discover your path....then make it new! In the near future, look for our book and music list with comments. We hope it will be helpful in making decisions as you walk your learning path.
